It's your turn to expose yourself...

In my quest to introduce myself to new information, I’ve been reading books, watching films, and trying to stay current on global events. I’m including a list of the works I've explored thus far. I highly recommend them to all, as they are rich with passionate, evidence-based arguments against some of the most pressing human, animal, and environmental issues of our time.

In defense of Food by Michael Pollan (2008)

Eco-Warriors:Understanding the Radical Environmental Movement (Updated Edition) by Rik Scarce (2006)

Behind the Mask: The Story of the People Who Risk Everything to Save Animals, produced and directed by Shannon Keith (2006)

The Future of Food, directed by Deborah Koons Garcia (2004)

Water: The Great Mystery, directed by Julia Perkul and Anastaysia Popova (2008)

The Cove directed by Louie Psihoyos (2009)

Introduction: A Pivotal Moment

We've all had them--a moment where our values are called into question. Whether we "check" ourself or someone else does, there follows a time of intense introspection and self-doubt. It can be a dark time. I’ve found recently, that it also can bring about the most powerful motivation and drive. This blog is a result one of these periods of inspiration.

I’m taking advantage of this dynamic time in my life to expose myself to new things and experience as much as I can. I feel very malleable right now, so I think it’s important to inundate my senses to the fullest extent. In this way, I’ll be able to fully involve myself without any pre-existing rigidity in my system.

As I work through this time of motivation and beyond, I plan to post my thoughts and new awareness in this forum in the hope that it will cultivate discussion and innovative ideas. Please share your thoughts with me as freely as I share mine with you. Let the adventure begin!
